The Needham 300 Committee announced today they will postpone the golf tournament scheduled for Monday, Aug. 29 to Monday, Sept. 12 because of Hurricane Irene.

Check back with Needham Patch for additional closures, cancellations and postponements because of the incoming storm, which is expected to arrive in the area on Sunday, Aug. 28.

Update, 3:00 p.m.: Parent Talk has cancelled its Saturday, Aug. 27 Flicks on the Field program, which was to include a screening of "Toy Story 3." With inclement weather in the forecast throughout the weekend, the event also cannot be held on its rain date of Sunday, Aug. 28.

"We hope to reschedule the event for sometime in the near future," a Parent Talk rep posted to Needham Patch's Facebook page. "Thank you for your understanding and be safe this weekend."

Update, Sunday, Aug. 28, noon: Longwood Opera has cancelled its "Pirates of Penzance" sing-a-long that was scheduled for this afternoon. Event may be rescheduled;
