Rule Bristol Driver

Dating back to August 2009, it seems the drivers have come to enjoy the challenge of picking the song for their introduction at Bristol - although some have chosen to let others do the work for them. For the March 2011 race, five-time champion Jimmie Johnson let Brian Vickers pick his intro song and vice-versa. The results were, to say the least, interesting: Vickers picked Sisqo's "The Thong Song" for Johnson, while JJ returned the favor with Shania Twain's "Man! I Feel Like a Woman" for Vickers.

Some drivers have let sponsorship or friendship help them choose their song. For March 2010 introductions, Martin Truex Jr. went with the famous (or infamous) "NAPA Know How" jingle, while Matt Kenseth chose Godsmack's "Whisky Hangover" in reference to his sponsor, Crown Royal. For the August 2010 race, Kasey Kahne, then driving for Budweiser, chose Billy Currington's "Pretty Good at Drinking Beer," while Jamie McMurray paid tribute to sponsor Bass Pro Shops with Brad Paisley's "I'm Gonna Miss Her (The Fishing Song)." Tony Stewart pays homage to his buddy Kid Rock by using "Bawitadaba" in most Bristol race intros, while teammate Ryan Newman chose a popular track by his pals Big & Rich for the August 2009 race: "Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy."

Tasmanian Marcos Ambrose has chosen Aussie bands for a few of his intros. In August 2009, he chose Men At Work's 1980s hit "Land Down Under," while for the March 2010 race he chose AC/DC's "Thunderstruck;" he continued the trend in August 2010 by using Spiderbait's remake of "Black Betty." For the March 2011 race, he came back to the States by choosing an apropos song: Metallica's "Fuel." Ohio native Dave Blaney walked out to the Ohio State University fight song in March 2011 - the same race Texan Bobby Labonte walked out to the Little Texas hit "God Bless Texas."

Carl Edwards usually brings his "Cousin Carl" image to the stage with songs like "Where Everybody Knows Your Name (The Cheers Theme)" in March 2011 and War's "Why Can't We Be Friends?" in August 2010, but Michael Waltrip may have been the closest to getting it right in August 2009 with his choice of Toby Keith's "As Good As I Once Was."
